Why didn't I do this sooner?
Summary: This isn't a "cheap" upgrade, and it will take some effort and time to install, but of all the things you can do to improve your boat, this should be at or near the top of your list if you are unhappy with your mechanical/cable steering.

For several years I thought about getting knob for my steering wheel, but after doing some research I learned that hydraulic steering might be the real solution to what I didn't like about my original steering system.

My main reasons for abandoning cable/mechanical steering:
1- at higher speeds turning the boat in one direction was extremely easy, while turning in the opposite direction took considerable effort.
2- during slow speed maneuvers I would lose critical time because it usually took two hands to go from lock to lock
3- while idling I would regularly have to provide steering input to keep the boat from wandering - even more so at speeds just above idle (speeds between 5 and 10 mph in...
