This was a big purchase for me so you can bet I did my research before buying...
I've owned a Vexilar FL8SLT for the past 14 years. I got sick of getting schooled by other fisherman when going for browns, lake trout, and salmon on Lake Superior this winter due to the lack of zoom on my unit so I decided I was going to upgrade to a new flasher.
First, there is a review you'll find out there that starts something like "This is a long read but if you're going to spend $$ on a flasher." Disregard that review. Its a fraud. You really have to watch out for folks who are "sponsored" as they are all over the web and do not give honest opinions.
I narrowed my exhaustive search down to three units. The Humminbird Ice 55, Marcum LX5, and Marcum LX6. I really like the look of the LX6 but ultimately could not afford one.
